Job Title: Equipment Manager

Location: Maple Grove, MN

Status: Full Time

Summary of the Position:

Barton Sand & Gravel Co., a division of Tiller Corporation, has an opening for an Equipment Manager. This individual is the lead manager of an equipment fleet in excess of $50 million spanning 10 to 15 operations across the Twin Cities market. This individual will be responsible for equipment selection and acquisition, maximizing efficiencies of mining operations, and analytical assessment of the operating fleet. This position requires an individual with expertise in mining equipment, management experience, and deep analytical skills; this is not a position for an operator/foreman looking to make the next step up in a career.

Key Responsibilities

This individual reports to the CEO of the company and is a key member of the Senior Operations Group. They are responsible for the following key areas:

• Provide analytical assessments on the operational efficiency, wear life and financial performance of the equipment fleet. Design and effectively communicate equipment strategies to senior management.
• Maximizing the operational efficiencies (tons per hours, cost per ton, etc.) of the mining operations of the division. Effectively consult with site foremen in the set-up and movement of operating spreads.
• Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to assess, select and acquire needed construction equipment.
• Coordinate the allocation of mining equipment across the division. Provide equipment coordination across the varying mining operations.
• Effectively communicate with line managers and other Director level individuals throughout the company.

Desired Background and Experience

To be considered for the position the individual should have the following educational background and demonstrated experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, finance or accounting. May consider candidate with Associates degree or military equivalent MOS training.
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrable experience with mining equipment (e.g., crushers, screens, wash plants, density separators, conveyors, loaders, dozers, excavators, 3-phase power etc.).
• Strong financial and analytical skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and general accounting concepts.
• Familiarity with applicable MSHA, OSHA and other governmental regulations.
• Must have valid unrestricted driver’s license; ability to lift on a regular basis up to 50 pounds; physical capability to work outdoors and climb construction equipment in all weather conditions.

Job Title: QM/QC Certified Bituminous Technician

Location: Twin Cities, MN

Status: Full Time, Seasonal

Summary of the Position:

Commercial Asphalt Co. has an opening for a level I or II state certified bituminous technician with one or more seasons of experience. Work locations are throughout the seven county metro area. This is a full-time seasonal position. Must have valid unrestricted driver’s license; ability to lift on a regular basis up to 50 pounds; willing and the ability to work overtime, nights and weekends; High school education; State of Minnesota Certifications in Aggregate Production and Bituminous Plant Level I and Level II.

Job Title: Coring Technician

Summary of the Position:

Commercial Asphalt Co., a division of Tiller Corporation has an opening for a coring technician. The job entails extracting asphalt core samples for various road construction projects in the seven county metropolitan market. The work is performed mainly during evening and night time hours with frequent weekend work required. This is a full time seasonal position.

Applicants must have very good communication skills and adequate mechanical ability. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, have good night vision, be willing to work overtime and weekends, and have a minimum of a high school education or equivalent. Will train specifics.

Salary Range: $16.00 to $17.00 per hour

Job Title: Belly Dump Driver

Location: Maple Grove, MN

Status: Full Time, Seasonal

Summary of the Position:

Barton Sand & Gravel Co. has an opening for a Belly Dump driver. This is a full-time seasonal position. Must have valid unrestricted commercial driver’s license; ability to lift on a regular basis up to 75 pounds; willing and the ability to work overtime, nights and weekends; and, high school education. Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with the Twin City Metro area a must.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Must have valid unrestricted class A CMV driver’s license.
• 5 years prior experience.
• Understanding and knowledge of truck compliance.
